Adopt Bronze!
Gentle Soul, Expert Snuggler, Forever Home Ready
Two weeks ago, Bronze arrived in Vermont after a long journey from Louisiana, and since then, he has seamlessly integrated into everyday life. As my first foster dog, he’s made this experience feel less like an act of kindness and more like a gift.
Bronze is the kind of dog who naturally syncs with the rhythm of a home. He’s gentle, mellow, and deeply affectionate, a true snuggle enthusiast whose favorite place is curled up right next to you on the couch. If he had a résumé, it would simply read: professional lounger, part-time shoe thief (don’t worry, they’re returned unharmed), and full-time heart-stealer.
He’s a calm soul, easy to have around, and respectful of every creature he meets. Bronze gets along with my dogs, cat, and even the chickens, always polite, always gentle. My yard also doubles as a thriving toad habitat, and he’s been just as considerate, quietly observing while I scoop up tiny toadlets and move them out of harm’s way. He has also been a quiet, loving presence around young children, including a 6-week-old baby, which speaks volumes about his sensitivity and kindness.
But don’t let all that zen energy fool you, Bronze has a goofy, playful streak too. His favorite game? Grabbing a shoe to get your attention, hoping you’ll indulge him in a short chase, followed by pets and praise (his true end goal). When he feels especially loved, he gives the softest little nibbles, his version of a kiss.
He's still learning to build confidence with leash pressure, but he walks nicely in the yard and stays close. Independent when needed and loyal always, Bronze thrives in calm, loving environments where he can continue to grow and feel safe. With his expressive eyes, boop-worthy nose, and a heart full of gold, Bronze is ready to find his forever home.
He’s adoptable through For the Love of Dogs Vermont, a dedicated nonprofit rescue that operates as a shelterless shelter, meaning every dog they save is placed into a loving foster home until adoption. Based in Waitsfield and serving the greater New England area (and beyond), their mission is rooted in compassion, connection, and second chances. They rely entirely on a network of volunteer fosters to help dogs decompress, heal, and show who they truly are outside the stress of a shelter environment, just like Bronze has here.
If you're looking for a steady, soulful companion with a touch of goofball charm, Bronze might just be your perfect match!
