My greatest inspiration has always come from Mother Nature. I spend my days seeking the in-between moments she shares. The ever-changing hues painted across the sky, the dancing treetops as gusts of wind fill the air, the alluring symphony of birds communicating, the captivating aromatics of fresh pine needles as you inhale deeply, and the dramatic crunch you hear when you enter a forest decked in leaves; there are always moments, endless moments.
Those kinds of moments draw me to the woods, and I often find myself sneaking away to soak up every ounce of inspiration I can find. Birdie’s Campout checked off every box for a truly inspiring and revitalizing retreat for myself and my pups!
The cabin was bursting with personality and built on love. It came to life through the thoughtful details and serene surroundings.
The overwhelming sense of peace I experienced nestled in these woods reminded me of the many reasons I value solitude within nature.
My mornings began with a cup of coffee, sitting on the front porch watching the sunrise as distant farm animals filled the crisp air with chatter and the dogs romped around. Days were spent hiking as we followed the sparkling spring rivers and wandered off-trail every so often to see what could be hiding around the corner.
Upon returning, I would go between pulling out my laptop to let the creative juices flow or crack open On Fire by John O'Leary and dive into some genuinely inspirational reading.
This trip and On Fire was the perfect pair. Everything you do, every single day of your life, matters. It's your choice to decide what you do with that time. It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, i'm certainly guilty of that. This book was the perfect reminder of all the wonderful things life has to offer. Sometimes the best moments lie within the mundane and if you are intentional and present every single day, you realize those mundane moments are actually something to celebrate. I highly recommend giving this book a read. You will not be disappointed!
My heart was on the verge of exploding when I would watch Kuma and Ziggy enjoy their time at the cabin. It had to have been the happiest I've seen them on any of our getaways.
As I was reading one afternoon, Kuma and Ziggy played hide and seek to chase each other in circles around the cabin. It made for some hilarious entertainment and very happy pups. At that moment I felt the utmost bliss and appreciation for how special life is. It was an in-between moment that I was fully present for. I value moments like that, that makes time feel slow. You know, the ones that stop you in your tracks and give you a breather to take in everything around you? Sigh, it's just perfection.
We would wrap up the eventful days unwinding by a toasty fire. I used that time to relax, reflect, and enjoy watching the stars light up the night sky.
I returned from Birdie's Campout with a full heart, feeling inspired and grateful. Life has a funny way of pushing us in specific directions and the time spent in these woods gave me more than I could have ever asked for. The small moments in life are just as special as the big ones.
I found Birdie's Campout on Airbnb and the host, Jonah, mentioned that it will become available again come the fall. The Platte family has a beautiful Instagram account highlighting a few other options to stay on their property. All of which I highly recommend. Especially if you're looking to enjoy some quality time nestled in between the trees!
